 Turn your Bathroom
into a Relaxing Spa and Give your Skin a Breather

Here come the holidays and your stress level is going up, up, up! While you love the holiday season, the additional activity on top of your already busy life can really take its toll. You have shopping to do, baking to do, and the in-laws are coming to visit. You still have your job to tend to and the church bazaar is coming up. You need a breather, or maybe several breathers! One great way to give yourself a break is to create a calm, soothing home spa right in your bathroom. It's not as difficult as you might think. Here are some tips:

1 - Clean your bathroom from top to bottom. Yes, it's work and it takes time, but it will feel more like a home spa if you start out knowing that it is spic and span clean.

2 -Get a set of really great, cushy towels in your favorite color, and hang them next to the tub. Buy a few nice plants. Real ones, if you have natural sunlight in your bathroom to keep them happy, or artificial if you don't. Arrange these in the bathroom to add a lush look. Get a bath pillow too, so you can sink down into the water and soak comfortably.

3 - Bring in your favorite scented candles. You can use only a few, or several. Arrange them around your tub, on the counter, or anywhere as long as you won't be creating the potential for a fire hazard. If you are looking for a calming scent, lavender is a perennial favorite. If you need to reinvigorate yourself, try peppermint or something citrus-y. Aromatherapy and soft lighting are essential parts of any home spa so don't forget these elements.

4 - Along with your favorite candles, bring in your CD player and your favorite relaxation music. Try a meditation CD, or some soft jazz or romantic music.

5 - Collect a set of great smelling bath salts or fizzies, bath gels and moisturizing lotions. Place them in a pretty basket or decorated box and have them ready to use. You can even coordinate the scent of your bath accessories to your candles. This will help make it easy to relax and enjoy your spa experience.

6 - Last but not least, find your favorite, snuggly bathrobe and hang it on the door or fold it neatly and place it nearby.

Now you're ready to relax. Run a nice warm bath, and toss in your bath salts or fizzie. Light your candles, and turn on the music ever so softly. Put a Do Not Disturb sign on the bathroom door and settle in. Lay back and relax. Let your mind wander and remember to think good thoughts. Let the stress of the day melt out of you and into the water. Breathe in the scent of the candles and rest.

Just for this time, you can let all the worries of the day go.

When you are refreshed, slowly get out of the tub, dry off in those wonderfully fluffy towels, slather on the scented moisturizer and wrap up in your comfy robe. There, don't you feel better? The next time you feel stressed, take some time for yourself in the wonderful home spa you've created in your bathroom.
